1st Processed Products Fair a huge success PDF Print E-mail

The ZAVSAP Processed Products Fair, the first of its kind in Zimbabwe, was an extraordinary success. Held at the Harare show grounds on Wednesday 14th of July 2010, over 700 people visited over ten stands held by members of the ZAVSAP network where processed foods, organic products, herbs and many more items were on display and for sale.  

The Assistant Director of the United Nations agency FAO, Mr David Mfote, opened the fair with a speech highlighting the importance for Zimbabwe of small scale farming, and the challenge of adding value to their produce, creating a bigger diversity of products and going back to some of the traditional crops like sorghum, millet, nyemba etc that have proven more sustainable.

ZAVSAP Processed Products Fair PDF Print E-mail

SMALLHOLDER farmers working with 9 NGOs belonging to the Zimbabwe – Adding Value to Sustainable Agriculture Produce (ZAVSAP) network, will hold a Processed Products Fair, the first in the country, on July 14th 2010. The ZAVSAP Processed Products Fair will be held inside the Nelson Mandela Hall at the Harare Showground, from 10am to 3.30pm.

Workshop Report: Sweet potato production principles PDF Print E-mail

27-28 April 2009, at Kufunda Learning Village, Ruwa

A workshop on sweet potato nursery production as well as field production was held for two days at Kufunda Village by Agri-Biotech on the 27th to the 28th of April.

The first day of the training was on the principles of setting up a nursery for sweet potatoes. These were well appreciated by the participants because in most years, their production of the crop has been limited by the lack of enough planting material. The knowledge gained on how they can get planting material ready before the rainy season in abundance was appreciated.
